Sarah Underhill has more than 10 years of graphic design, production, project management and editing experience. Immediately upon graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Business Economics, Sarah was hired as Human Resources and Finance Manager for SeaSound, a high-tech digital audio company, eventually promoting to Controller. After 5 years in finance, she decided to pursue a more creative path and began designing rock climbing and travel guidebooks and independent novels for publishers SuperTopo, Fodor’s/Random House and Lost Borders Press.
In order to gain more experience in printer management and production, she took on a job as Production Manager at Nimblefish Technologies, a mid-sized direct marketing firm in San Francisco. At Nimblefish, Sarah managed a team of 6 production artists, project managers, and proofreaders as well as print vendor relationships.
Once corporate burnout took hold, Sarah decided to move to South Lake Tahoe and embark on a freelance career. Since starting her own business, she has worked as Designer, Editor, Project Manager, and Writer for a wide array of novels, poetry books, manuals, guidebooks, travel books, advertisements, brochures, newsletters, posters, and other various marketing collateral.
When Sarah is not sitting in front of her Mac, she can be found rock climbing, hiking, backcountry skiing, or swimming in alpine lakes with her husband, Mitch and dogs, Tenaya and Juniper.
Sarah’s clients include: Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, Regional Planning Partners, Pastore-Ryan, Integrated Environmental Restoration Services, Sierra Business Council, Lost Borders Press, Reno Gazette Journal Custom Publishing Group, Lake Valley Fire Protection District, Elevate Wellness Center, Lost Borders Press and Tahoe Adventure Film Festival.
